Surprised this isn’t in Covington GA.

I suspect the dash is odd on the Charger because it isn’t actually a Charger, or isn’t on an original chassis . There’s something off about the proportions to my eye , I suspect a custom/restomod kind of thing.

There’s an engine in there, either that or they specifically put really light springs in front to keep the stance correct.

I’m surprised and really saddened nobody’s started a Dukes museum in the Covington/Conyers area. I mean, I know it was only the first five episodes filmed there, but still.

Looks like they slapped it on a Crown Vic chassis. The steering wheel looks off but the dash angle and those big ole seats sure scream old Ford to me. I bet someone here can tell us exactly where it came from and what trim even! Go forth Oppo!

I see the billboards for that all the time, including last weekend on my way to/from Floyd VA, but just never have the time or interest to stop in. I guess it could be worth a look one day, I’d really like to check out the caves, though.

A friend of mine lived in Covington for several years about 10 years ago. I had little idea about the connection to various movies and TV shows until I visited him and he told me about some of it - I am a filming location geek, so I had a good time . So much has been filmed in those towns, pretty cool to visit.

Yup, In The Heat of The Night (another favorite of mine thanks to my grandfather) was filmed there for most of its’ run.

Yep, I saw the Sparta police building among other locations there, I remember it clearly.  Some scenes in the original Cannonball Run are also in Covington.

Also some Smokey and the Bandit scenes around Lithonia/Stone Mountain, not far away.

The Charger out front is a stunt car they used at one of the Hazzard H appenings that Ben Jones put on, as for the dash it isnt a true Charger but a mashup of diffrent cars, it seems to have a Ford Crown Vic chassis with body panels of the Charger. Inside however are true representatives of the series including the actual Caddy driven in the series. Its a bit of history and for fans who grew up watching the show a surreal experience. Also on display are toys, costumes, pictures of the cast and even Way lon Jennings guitar. Well worth a visit and on Saturdays Ben Jones himself is there and speaks to the visitors, well worth a visit.

The reason it's not in Georgia is because this isnt a museum.  Its Cooter's place which use to be in Sperryville Virginia and moved to Luray Virginia. He would be there once and awhile to sign autographs,  put on concerts with live bands and such . Ben Jones owned one of the General Lee used on the show .

Cooter was from northern Virginia. I think he was from Culpeper VA

I've been to a few of the local caverns and Luray is the best around this area

When there’s not a pandemic going on, I drive down to the Blue Ridge as often as 1 or 2 weekends a month, there’s a couple local bluegrass/old time bands I like to catch when I can. Might be worth allowing a little extra time on the trip to see it.

The Floyd Country Store has figured out how to do outdoor concerts in full compliance with state requirements, so if we don't get shutdown again, I may be going back down there this summer. Carter Fold is still closed, unfortunately, they can't figure out how to adapt their model to the new rules without running deep in the red.

Perhaps it is just me that thinks the “museum” should be in Hazard Kentucky which is just a short drive from “Bucksnort” Tennessee. As far as the dash is concerned, maybe a 69 dash was not readily available or the car itself was obtained by a rube who just wanted a low buck General. It made you look. The purpose was fulfilled.

Soon to be the Museum of Reconciliation and Inclusiveness , amiright? And maybe they could even add a stunt show with the rebranded car, the General Neutrality . I heard it can make quite a leap!

The caverns there are amazing as long as you go on a quiet day. I’ve been twice in my life and definitely worth a stop if you’re in Central VA (along with Monticello).

Tohru’s Hyundai with a Dukes of Hazzard paint job was a riot. Do you remember that? I think I convinced him to call it Admiral Yi.

I have no idea. Not sure if it's a local thing or had something to do with the show.
